Legendary guitarist, Ed King, an original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, co-wrote the hit song “Sweet Home Alabama” And, it’s his voice you can hear counting off the tune before launching into his famous Stratocaster riff.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee 2006.
Ed has played with sea shells for over 30 years now. He has recently retired them and has chosen this V-Pick to play exclusively. It is a great honor to present to you and the world his new model…
You will receive his signature V-Pick on a card autographed by Ed King himself. Ed will personally sign each one. These are not copies! If you are a Lynyrd Skynyrd or Ed King fan, you will want one of these! You may want two. One to play with and the other to save and collect. I know I am going to put a few of them away for myself, for sure.
Ed King was VERY influential in my playing and career. Not only was his work instrumental in helping to shape my style and sound, he is one of the big reasons I started to make guitar picks. Not only did I hang on every note he played, I also wanted that sound, attack and effect he had on Sweet Home Alabama. There is almost as much pick noise as there is tone on that song! So, I set out to find the best solution to copy this man’s work. I searched thru and tried many materials until I found cast acrylic. In the early days I left all my hand ground picks unbuffed on the edge. This gave a great scratchy, violin bow effect on each note. I settled on this one shape and size. Oddly enough, over 30 years later, Ed has chosen this very model as his favorite V-Pick. I guess I got it right! I cannot tell you how much this means to me to have Ed in our corner playing V-Picks. Not only is he a fine guitarist and brilliant song writer, he is also a sweetheart of a guy.
So, again, it gives me great pleasure to present to you the Ed King V-Pick.
